Incorporating Families Into Individual Gambling Disorder Treatment: An Evidence Informed Conversation

Broadly, research demonstrates that inclusion of partners and families into an identified client’s treatment improves mental health outcomes when compared to individual treatment without family involvement. However, little to no evidence-base exists for how to do this in the context of gambling disorder treatment. This moderated panel discussion with licensed providers Mr. Robby Fuqua, Drs. Heather Chapman, Abby McPhail, and Jeremiah Weinstock will discuss efforts to include families into gambling disorder, drawing from other scientific literatures and clinical experience. Panel members work in a range of clinical settings from private practice, outpatient specialty clinics, and within the VA system.
