Community-Based Participatory Research on Traditional Healing and Gambling-Related Harm in Native Communities

With generous support from the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) partnered with researchers at Lehigh University to examine the role of traditional healing practices in addressing gambling-related harm and co-occurring behaviors in Native communities. Led by the study’s Principal Investigator, this session will provide an overview of the community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach, exploring how cultural, social, and environmental factors shape these behaviors while centering and amplifying community voices.
