Gambling has significant potential for serious harm. Hence, efforts to promote responsible gambling (RG) must prioritize harm minimization and education while communicating the risks associated with gambling. Unfortunately, existing efforts are often undermined by the conflation of “responsible gambling” with “problem gambling.” This misinterpretation can alienate those individuals who do believe that they have a gambling disorder, ignoring messages intended to help them make informed choices. Thus, this presentation explores the normalization of responsible gambling, introduces three theories to explain and support its implementation, and provides strategies to integrate it directly into action and behavior. This is particularly important among underserved populations.
