Voluntary Self-Exclusion in the United States: Use and Best Practices

The current state of Voluntary Self-Exclusion (VSE) across the United States is a patchwork of practices, policies, and violation punishments. This pre-conference workshop will provide empirical findings from several recent research studies of VSE responsible gambling practices based on different forms of gambling, regulator (state, tribal entity, and/or industry), and from the point of view of those who utilize(d) the practice. Several “best practice” considerations will be discussed. From there, participants will work in small groups to help determine what VSE practices may meet the overall goals of harm reduction and prevention.
