As youth gambling prevention becomes increasingly critical in today’s landscape, education and harm reduction efforts must move beyond one-way messaging to engaging approaches that can scale. This interactive workshop introduces a practical train-the-trainer model designed to expand the reach of youth gambling prevention through trusted adults. Former professional athlete and coach Randy Livingston and media education specialist and author Anita Ondine Smith will draw on their lived experience with gambling disorder and honed teaching skills to equip participants with the tools, scripts, and facilitation techniques needed to train parents, coaches, and mentors to have effective prevention conversations with young people. This session provides a clear, scalable framework and ready-to-use materials that attendees can implement immediately within their own communities.
This session is being presented as part of the Community Innovation Hub, a sponsored conference engagement opportunity that allows organizations to share information about their programs, services, research, products, or initiatives with conference attendees. Community Innovation Hub sessions are distinct from the peer-reviewed conference education program and are intended to provide opportunities for information sharing, discussion, and networking.
