GamFin: Financial Counseling for Problem Gambling — Outcomes Data and App Demo presented by GamFin
In 2025, financial problems were the #1 reason people reached out to the National Problem Gambling Helpline — cited in 73% of conversations, more than double mental health concerns.

GamFin provides financial counseling for problem gambling. In this 30-minute session, we share results from our 2025 Social Impact Report, built on an independent analysis of our client data by Gamblytics, LLC: 96.5% of clients arrive in financial crisis, and 44.7% carry more than $50,000 in debt (not counting their mortgage). When clients get financial counseling alongside clinical care, 56.3% show a measurable drop in gambling severity within just 3 sessions, and 24.3% of those who started in the “problem gambling” range fall below that line in the same window.

We’ll close with a demonstration of Guardian, our new app that supports clients between sessions, plus 5–10 minutes for questions. Stop by our exhibitor booth to keep the conversation going.

This session is being presented as part of the Community Innovation Hub, a sponsored conference engagement opportunity that allows organizations to share information about their programs, services, research, products, or initiatives with conference attendees. Community Innovation Hub sessions are distinct from the peer-reviewed conference education program and are intended to provide opportunities for information sharing, discussion, and networking.
