Originally from Germany, Tom Naar is a recent graduate from UCLA with a BA in Psychology, and he is working towards earning a PhD in Clinical Psychology in the future. He has spent the last two years as a research assistant at UCLA’s Gambling Studies Program (UGSP) under Dr. Timothy Fong. In addition, he joined UCLA’s Integrated Substance Abuse Programs (ISAP) in late 2024. Tom Naar’s interests surround problematic gambling in underrepresented populations, as well as its co-morbidities with other forms of problematic behavior and substance abuse. He promotes gambling research and treatment, while hoping to reduce stigma.
