Matthew Brown, PhD

Matthew Brown is an Assistant Instructional Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago. He earned his PhD from Stanford University in 2025. His research uses behavioral economics to analyze contexts where consumers do not choose what is best for themselves. His dissertation applies this approach to sports betting. He has also developed a method for linking observational sports betting data to survey data in research studies.
