This presentation explores findings from two studies investigating AI chatbot responses to problem gambling questions. In Study 1, AI chatbot responses to realistic problem gambling-related questions were evaluated by experienced treatment professionals, who also provided their own “optimal” responses. In Study 2, we conducted a “Turing Test” with a large sample of gamblers, presenting them with chatbot (AI) and professional (human) responses to determine if they could identify the source. Our findings reveal critical insights into the capabilities and limitations of AI in responding to gambling-related issues and their potential impact on those seeking gambling-related support.
