Some hear about the dreidel game and assume Jewish people are more at-risk due to early exposure. Research on the intersection of Judaism and gambling has been done on those living in Israel or in Orthodox communities, not representative of most who identify as Jewish in the US. They could be identifying as religiously, culturally, ethnically, or any combination of these; therefore, it is important develop cultural competency in this area. This session will discuss factors that contribute to the development of a gambling disorder in this population, and strategies to increase engagement with clients and/or their family members.
