This breakout presentation examines the unique risks and harms experienced by sports-themed video game (SVG) players, based on findings from a 3-wave online survey conducted via Amazon’s MTurk (N=1735) and Prolific (N=1817). Results show that SVG players face greater risks for gambling within video games (e.g., loot boxes) and sports betting. Further, a high percentage of SVG players (MTurk: 28.6%; Prolific: 11%) meet problem gambling criteria across both samples, with analyses revealing stable engagement and consistent gambling- and gaming-related harms. Attendees will engage in discussions on addressing these challenges and shaping actionable strategies surrounding video gaming-related gambling and migration to gambling.
