Carey serves as the Director of Health Promotion in the NCAA Sport Science Institute. Carey is the NCAA member point of contact for mental health, substance misuse prevention and harm reduction, sexual violence prevention, and promotion of student-athlete health and wellness. Prior to her role in the NCAA, Carey worked as a PA for over 10 years, providing team-based patient care in orthopedics, sports medicine, and behavioral health. Carey also served as Director of Clinical Assessment and Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Division of PA Education for five years. Carey earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of South Dakota. She completed an executive fellowship in addiction medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she will graduate with her PhD in Health Promotion in May 2025. In her free time, Carey enjoys cycling and volunteering as a youth sport coach.
