Many individuals who reduce or stop gambling continue to experience underlying vulnerability to addiction. This session explores cross-addiction, including increased substance use, compulsive sex, and other process behaviors following gambling cessation. Participants will examine how reward pathways, unresolved distress, and limited recovery supports contribute to substitution patterns. The session also addresses stigma, both societal and within recovery spaces, that can fragment care and create barriers to integrated support. Current research on co-occurring disorders will be reviewed, alongside clinical approaches that emphasize continuity of care, harm reduction, and whole-person recovery. Attendees will gain tools to recognize and respond to post-gambling addiction shifts.
